Laura Commisso and Daniel Fernandes 

 

For years, Daniel and Laura had the unique opportunity to perform together on the live-to-air TVOKids Broadcast block. They also worked behind the scenes as producers, writers and editors, creating countless hours of digital content targeted towards youth in Canada. This experience provided a collaborative playground for them to develop their technical skills and grow as both creative partners and friends.

Laura Commisso is an actor, writer, and producer based in Toronto. She is a graduate of the Devised Theatre program at York University, as well as the longform and sketch Conservatory programs at the Toronto Second City Training Centre. Laura previously worked as an on-air host/producer for TVOKids, and has now shifted into the role of Digital Media Producer for TVO’s newest in-house youth production, Know Brainers. Recently, Laura accepted the YMA award for Know Brainers, in the Best Live Action Non-Scripted category.  Some of Laura’s most recent acting credits include What We Do in the Shadows, and Pillow Talk. In her off time, Laura works as a therapeutic clown alongside the not-for-profit organization Red Nose Remedy. She can’t wait to host this year’s Nova Star Awards!

Daniel Fernandes is an Afro-Filipino writer, actor, host, and producer. He was a host and producer for TVOkids’ The Space and a producer for YTV’s Zone Weekend and BFM where he directed, wrote, and produced comedic segments. Daniel has worked on shows for TVO, YTV, BBC, Nickelodeon and AppleTV+. He was a participant of the BIPOC Commercial Directing, Showrunner, and Kids TV Writing bootcamps. Daniel is also a fabulous drag queen and hopes to one day use it as a vehicle to teach kids the joys of self- love and acceptance.

YAN – Illusionist

 

Yan Markson is a highly acclaimed professional mentalist, magician, and keynote speaker, known for his mesmerizing performances and captivating stage presence. Through his extraordinary performances, Yan has consistently astounded audiences with his ability to seemingly read minds, predict outcomes, and create unforgettable moments of wonder.

Born with an innate passion for the art of illusion, Yan’s journey began at a young age, honing his skills and mastering the intricacies of mentalism and magic. His exceptional talents quickly garnered attention, leading him to perform on prestigious platforms such as Penn & Teller’s TV Show “Fool Us” in Las Vegas, Tedx and 100’s of top ranking organizations throughout North America. Yan  was recognized as the  ‘Top Magician’ in Toronto by BlogTo, and was a finalist for the “Entertainer of the Year” award for the Canadian Events Industry Awards in 2019.  

 

JULIA MICHELLE  – Singer

Julia is an extraordinarily talented young Singer, songwriter, guitarist, competitive dancer and Mini Pop Kids (MPK) Member! Starting her career at the impressive age of 10, Julia has already made a name for herself by  recording and releasing a double studio album, numerous single covers, and featuring in popular music videos and commercials. The music video for “Savage Love” garnered 15 million YouTube views! Her talent has taken her on tour across Canada and the United States as part of the MPK Bright Lights Relit Tour in 2022.

Julia Michelle recently released “Another Trip Around the Sun,” an uplifting pop track that serves as an empowering anthem. Through the song, she encourages listeners to maintain a positive outlook and persevere through life’s challenges. Her ultimate goal is to inspire others to keep pushing forward and never give up, regardless of the struggles they face.

 

 

DOMENIC C – DJ and AV Technician 

Domenic is a highly experienced and versatile DJ, AV technician, MC, and event organizer with an impressive career spanning over 30 years. Renowned for his exceptional talent and unwavering commitment to excellence, Domenic has become a trusted advisor to many organizations, hosting over 300 events to date. With a diverse range of specialties including Dance, House, Latin, Classic Rock, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and Pop, he has successfully delivered unforgettable experiences to numerous audiences.

In addition to his DJ and event organizing skills, Domenic’s technical prowess as an AV technician has earned him a stellar reputation. Equipped with an in-depth understanding of audio and visual equipment, he seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology into his performances, creating immersive experiences that captivate the senses.

 

Megan Tracy – Photographer

Megan has been a photographer for over 20 years. Graduating from Applied Photography at Sheridan College. She does all genres of photography including portraits, newborns, family, weddings and events. Independently building into small business turned full time, 8 years ago. Megan is also an Visual artist, and currently has her art exhibited at Twist gallery in Toronto, and prior to that a RAW artists exhibit in Toronto. She works with resin, acrylic and alcohol inks. This mom of four, also has a talent for vocal music, and has performed a number of private events. Megan’s love of people, and the arts in general, is apparent in every medium of her own artistry.
